The holiday advertising season is here, and if your business is like most, you’re preparing to make the most of it with print advertising.
Companies ranging in size from small to enterprise will be out in full force this year with their print advertisements, so if you want to have the best chance of a successful campaign, you need to do everything you can to stand out.
If you’re ready to get extra-festive, let’s begin by taking a look at a holiday print advertising classic and how we can make it even better:
The Classic Calendar… With a Twist
Calendars for the new year are a popular print advertising method around this time of year. Like most people, you’re likely to receive at least a couple in the mail. Calendars are such a popular advertising method because not only does the recipient feel like they’ve gotten quite a bit more than “just” a standard Christmas card or seasonal thank-you letter, they’ve received something useful.
As long as your calendar is attractive, it has the very real chance to find itself on the wall of your customer’s office, business, or home… not just for the holidays, but for a full year.
But, since your calendar is likely not the only one they’ve received, you need to do something to stand out from the crowd. If you’ve got nice monthly graphics covered, the next step is to consider how you can make the calendar more useful with pre-defined important dates or seasonal offers.
For example, a calendar might have coupons that become eligible during the spring, summer, autumn, and the following winter, all of which further incentivize the recipient to keep it around. Maybe you’ve added some industry-specific notes on important dates of the year for events, deadlines, or other special days.
Calendars work. If you want yours to have the best chance of advertising for you year-round, make it useful and pretty.
Customized Gift Wrap
What’s the one thing everyone needs more of during the holiday season?
How many times have you ran out, only to have to return to the store—fighting relentless crowds along the way—to pick up an extra roll?
A unique way to provide your recipients with something useful that will also remind them of your business is to send out rolls of custom-designed gift wrapping paper. The rolls don’t have to be huge or overly expensive.
Do a Little More With Your Company Christmas Card
If you’re sending out a Christmas card this year, why not spice things up a bit and add a little more value?
“Thanks for being our customer” is a nice sentiment, but has a pretty high chance to make a quick trip to the wastebin. Instead, include a valuable coupon or other incentive—arguably by doing so, you’re showing tangible appreciation for the recipient being your customer.
